I never had the opportunity to read Burke before Cimmarron Rose, but I
believe this to be one of the best novels I have read this year. When I
was reading it, I could not help but think, noir lives! noir lives! The
many little stories that make up this novel are each complex and
compelling. The characters are tough but believable, and the dialog is
great. I could not find one thing to criticize within, and would assume
that this will be on all the best lists next year.
