I don´t know for sure if any of these strictly qualify for the
hardboilded genre, but you might want to try

- Sara Paretsky for her V.I. Warshawski novels
- Patricia Cornwell (at least the first few novels)
- Val McDermid´s "The Mermaids Singing" ('95 CWA Gold Dagger winner)
- Minette Walters
