I stopped reading serial-murderer thrillers fifteen, twenty years ago -- around the time "In the vein of 'Silence of the Lambs!'" became the rallying cry of half the books on the bookstore shelves. The number (thankfully) decreased, of course, but my saturation point on those types of books had been reached. Your fuse on tired formulas is a lot longer than mine, I'm afraid.
