This week, I really enjoyed reading Sean Chercover's Big City, Bad Blood and Harlan Coben's Dealbreaker. This was the first book I read by both authors.
Big City, Bad Blood was hard boiled, but with a post-modern style. The post-modern elements I speak of are the protagonist Ray's view of society/corruption and also the effect of his profession on his romantic relationship. A good mix.
Deal Breaker was a unique setting for the "PI", ex-FBI agent turned sports agent. It stumped me, I didn't guess the mystery and the villain in advance. I liked the characters a lot, even if the protagonist was a Dook basketball player (I'm a MD grad).
