even though I read Don Winslow's epic masterpiece THE POWER OF THE DOG a year ago, every time I crack open the L.A. Times and read about the current bodycount in Mexico, and now the arrest of hundreds here in the U.S., I feel like I'm still reading the same story

minus the great characters, sadly
