    Sad news!!
      I was acquainted with George, both in person and online (we exchanged emails, and did some Instant Messenging), and he was a generous and friendly guy.
      Not to mention a talented author, obviously.
      RIP, George. We'll miss ya...

    Today's Washington Post contains an obit for George Chesbro, creator of Mongo the Magnificent, ex-circus dwarf turned PI. I only read the first few, a long time ago. But it's sort of a testament to their quality that I read more than one since, at the time, I had no real interest in crossgenre PI novels, and these are filled with the occult:
