    It wouldn't be hard. You don't even have to switch the perspective to the murderer. After all, the lead character is a detective who can solve any case except the one that really matters to him, the murder of his wife. And he is plagued by so many personal quirks (greatly exacerbated by his wife's death) that he is barred from returning to the one job he ever wanted, as a POLICE detective. He can never be happy. Get rid of all of the comic relief and you're not far from Batman. Wait, you said Batman's not noir.
