RARA-AVIS: James M. Cain and Albert Camus

Hi,

Often I've read that Albert Camus allegedly used Cain's The Postman Always Rings Twice as inspiration to write The Stranger. I have been unable, however, to find one single quote from Camus or any piece of primary source information to back up this claim. Does anyone in this list know if this is fact or simply an apocryphal story?
