Do you really think that's universally true about authors
having no control over their classifictions, ? Yes, genre
classifications come after the fact, when someone places a
label on a bunch of books, sees similarities among them and
places them on the same shelf. However, once those labels
have been accepted, don't you think many authors consciously
set out with the intent of placing their books on that
specific shelf in the bookstore?
In that light, Vicki, has accepting an initially imposed from
without classification for your own work affected the way you
write? Do you now conceive within the frame of "crime
writing"?
