Truffaut also did The Bride Wore Black. Having seen both, I am just not happy with Truffaut messing with this material. The Bride Wore Black may be one of the worst films by a major director that I've ever seen. I even hated the film stock and the lighting. It's really, really bad. Mississippi Mermaid -- the only true epic of noir -- was better with Belmondo and Deneuve but it still didn't get there. Anglina Jolie and Antonio Bandaras also starred in a version. I'm trying to find all the major films of Woolrich for a separate essay.
