Williamsburg, Virginia is where Marlowe (then Milton Lesser)
went to college. I recall a "Meet the Author" piece in an old
Amazing Stories that mentioned he was a graduate of William
and Mary.
I'd be interested in the review. I just obtained a copy of
the Fall 1954 issue of the pulp Triple Detective with a story
"If Not Worms, Fishes" under the Marlowe byline. That and
1954 Ace novel CATCH THE BRASS RING are the earliest use of
the Stephen Marlowe name that I am aware of in mystery
fiction. In the science fiction pulps it goes back to
1951.
