Just starting this. Out of curiosity, under what pseudonym
was this book originally published? And was Lucky at Cards
its original title? Could it be The Sex Shuffle by Sheldon
Lord, published by Beacon? This is one of the titles I found
while trawling for Block pseudonyms one day at the LoC. It's
got the right date and shuffle could be a pun about
cardplaying. If so, it's confirmation that Sheldon Lord was
indeed a Block pseudonym. Has he ever actually confirmed
that?
