RARA-AVIS: Re: Women who are men

(the following is full of spoilers, but I'll try to make them as vague as I can)
The theme was all over television in the Sixties. Alfred Hitchcock Hour used it in the really creepy episode "The Open Window." I believe a Wild, Wild West used it, too. One of the Connery Bond movies opened up with the spy slugging a beautiful Eurasian woman who turns out to be a guy. The Peter Gunn movie, Gunn No. 1, used it in a way that really ripped off the Mick. I think the gimmick may have originated with the Christine Jorgensen sex-change story that got a tremendous amount of press in the 50s.
