I asked a panel made up of Richard Layman, Hammett's daughter
Jo, Joe Gores and Don Herron if Hammett was ever on record as
saying anything about Chandler.
The answer was no, but they said that Hammett retyped
Chandler's essay
"The Simple Art of Murder" and made a point of handing out
copies to friends and acquaintances.
