Hayden published WANDERER in 1963 and a novel entitled VOYAGE
in 1976. He led an incredibly interesting life and was the
perfect choice to play Wade (even though he was Altman's
second choice, after Dan Blocker died). Hayden went places in
that movie that few actors ever go. He is exceptional. It's
an amazing performance.
