RARA-AVIS: Buena Costa County

Hi Dennis

Yesterday, I found and (have barely) started the first Buena Costa County book, Another Way to Die. From what I understand, the county itself is the central character of the series, not any particular individual. Although setting is often A character, I can't think of any other series where it is THE character. Even the 87th Precinct novels have recurring central, human characters. So I am curious about how and why you came up with this concept.
