Sure I remember the blurb for UPTPOWN DOWQNTOWN. My second
novel..
I'd published a short story in NEW WORLD WRITING #11, and the
editor, Brad Cimmings asked me if I had a novel. I did,
COMBAT SOLDIER, and after he bought that I finished UPTOWN
DOWNTOWN and he bought that too. He swore he'd sell both of
them to a hardcover publisher, but he never did. They sold
100,000 copies each, which wasn't much in those days, but on
the strength of the two advances I quit my editor job and
wrote full time.
