Ed Gorman's done some good hardboiled/noir westerns. I'm working through a stack of his books and recently read GHOST TOWN, set during an outbreak of malaria in a small town out west. Guy wants his share of the loot from a heist, tracks down his partners, his brother dies, there's a beautiful woman and a lot of trouble. Set it seventy years later and it'd work just as well.
