RARA-AVIS: The Confession on DL/The Lowlife

So don't leave us hanging, Jack, what's this all about? I left DL a couple of years ago after having my keyboard rapped by the moderator who didn't like what I said about a subject that has long been forgotten. The book is in my TBR stack so need to know if I should read it immediately before the DL cops come to my home.

I picked up a 1960s Fontana PB yesterday titled The Lowlife, the is described as "a riotous off-beat novel about the gamblers, prostitutes and lay-abouts of London's East End." The author is Alexnader Baron. Can any of the Brits on the list recommend Baron?
