RARA-AVIS: Speaking of Deadwood . . .

From: Michael E. Etchison ( etchison@mleconsulting.com)

Is Dr. John Grant's continuing lead character hb/n? He entertains no lofty aspirations, continually rates himself more highly than those he deals with -- except when he gets himself all wrong, is often unclean, untidy, and smewhat the worse for wear. He is rarely any better than he needs to be (at anything but the history and technology of his craft), and usually worse -- and comes out bloodied, bowed, but rarely embarrassed.
