I didn't completely answer your question, Mark. I think the gender inversion modernized the story, but I really wasn't trying to write the same plot. I did use a classic noir triangle; however, the motivation and betrayal were altogether different. Happily, I learned after I'd written Miami Purity, that Camus used Postman as a model for The Stranger, one of my all time favorites. V
