Read any Pelecanos lately? Try RIGHT AS RAIN. There's a
laugh-riot for ya. I did find humor in that book, though it
struck me as the
unintended-because-it-was-really-intended-to-be-terribly-ironic-stuff
variety of humor. But hey, what do I know. Pelecanos
sells, and that's no lie.
************ Been a long time since I've read anything by
Pelecanos. I read THE SWEET FOREVER and SHAME THE DEVIL quite
a few years ago. I liked them both and bought RIGHT AS RAIN,
but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. For the last few
years I've been reading authors new to me and only
occasionally going back to ones I've read before.
And Pelecanos selling seems like a recent thing. When I read
the two I mentioned, I had to mail order them. Couldn't find
them in a bookstore around here. Now Barnes and Noble and
Borders both have a selection of his books. I'm glad to see
it.
