Saw two movies this weekend that are on-topic for the list.
The first was Laura, the classic noir movie. I had read the
book a long time ago and thought it was mediocre. The movie
was a notch above the book. A lot of it was stereotypic noir,
with darkness and shadow accented by harsh lighting. There
was some sharp dialogue. Not a bad movie.
The second was Jackie Brown, a Tarentino adaptation of
Leonard's RUM PUNCH. It was about the worst I've seen from
him, which means it was still pretty good. There were plot
holes big enough to drive a Hummer through.
