Had Eversz seen it or was he just speculating from the name?
The only shared trait I noted between the two was that both
Zeros were just out of prison (well, Nina was at the
beginning of her second appearance), and that's hardly a
novelty in hardboiled and/or noir. Nina becomes a paparazzi,
whereas Jonny begins working for a restaurant that hosts kids
parties, while being pressured to work for his old mob boss,
by both the boss and the Feds. He also becomes a kind of
unlicensed PI. As I said, not much in common with Eversz
books beyond the name, and even that has a distinct
difference -- Nina chose it herself; Jonny is told that
that's what he'll be if he doesn't take his former boss's
job.
That said, a Nina Zero series would be way cool.
Looking over my description, Dan Simmons would have a better
case against the show borrowing some of his Kurtz's traits
(though still hardly definitive; they're both drawing on
hardboiled standards) than Eversz.
