This rang a bell with me, as an article I wrote about Goodis that appeared in _Crime Time_ included a list of Goodis novels that had been filmed;
_Raving Beauty_ was one of the titles that had been filmed (as _And Hope To Die_, by Renee Clement, in 1972).

Looking again at that list, it certainly *looks like* two Goodis novels,
_Raving Beauty_ and _Someebody's Done For_ were adapted as _And Hope To Die_.

I haven't seen a copy of Haut's _Heartbreak and Vine_ so I'm not unable to check the section on Goodis, or look at his references, but it seems like I might have led Woody astray :-)
