RARA-AVIS: Grimhaven, Craig Rice, Falcon

Miker:

"And has anyone get any closer to publishing the legendary GRIMHAVEN?"

I interviewed Betsy Willeford couple years back for a Finnish magazine and she said that as long as she lives the manuscript won't be published. Even she thought it was too depressing. If you want to read the book, xeroxes pop up - there's one in Abebooks at the moment (even though it's 200 $).

Craig Rice is an abysmal writer. She's not funny even though she thinks she is and she's not witty even though she thinks she is.

As for Falcon: the Finnish TV showed recently a set of these. I have yet to see the Chandler film, but I liked almost all of them. There was certain charm to the series and I even liked Sanders. I can't pick a favourite, they were all entertaining. (Cleve Cartmill presumably wrote the second (or third?) book under the Sanders pseudonym. Is that any better than the Rice written ones?)
