Yes indeed. I am generally fond of Gardner's work, but especially like the A.A. Fair books, which deserve to be better known. I think they contain one of the truer pictures of "what being a private investigator is really like", with the general grubbiness, the constant scraping around for a client, etc. Highly recommended.
