It is, and it's a terrific read. One of my favorite Crumley's.

I haven't read Dennis Lynds' novel, but likewise have heard very good things about it...

Lou Cameron, I think he wrote some hardboiled stuff for Gold Medal too, but have read none of those. The interview with Arnold Hano in BIG BOOK OF NOIR mentioned how he considered their war novels to be exceptional, but I don't have any idea what or who they published....
