Lou Cameron wrote several World War II novels for Gold Medal. I can't get to the books right now, but I recall titles like THE BASTARD'S NAME IS WAR, THE EMPTY QUARTER, and JUMP INTO HELL. Been years since I read them, but I recall enjoying them.
