Mark Sullivan asked about Gruber's Johnny Fletcher
mysteries.
Here they are -- The French Key, The Laughing Fox, The
Talking Clock, The Hungry Dog, The Navy Colt, The Mighty
Blockhead, The Gift Horse, The Silver Tombstone, The Honest
Dealer, The Whispering Master, The Scarlet Feather, The
Leather Duke and The Limping Goose. They're all entertaining.
My favorite is The Honest Dealer that has, in addition to a
passable Vegas scam several very amusing ways that a con man
could eat well in that city in the Forties without paying a
dime.
There's a Belmont paperback original, "Swing Low Swing Dead,"
that seems to be a reworking of an earlier novelette.
