The last really good hardboiled
I read is Tom O'Neill's forthcoming "Shark Tank," a really
good vigilante thriller about an ex-paramilitary, ex-lawyer
who has been assassinating drug dealers and eluding capture
by a FBI agent/poseur, when he decides to hang up his gun,
and is at the same time rocketed to national fame by security
camera coverage of a botched arms deal in a casino, where he
saves a cop's life. Crisp, original writing, some very funny
dialogue, and a cynical outlook that avoids being smug or
clever. Check it out - it is due in July.
