There's a reference in HILL GIRL to Gregg County, of which there's one in Texas not far from where I'm sitting right now. Not too many hills there, but maybe Williams didn't come up with the title. Gregg County has a web page, and if you don't have anything else to do, you might visit:

Click on "Most Wanted" to see the four top criminals in the county right now, and you might think they stepped right out of Williams's book.
