That's the Mike Davis who wrote CITY OF QUARTZ: EXCAVATING THE FUTURE IN LOS ANGELES (1990) and ECOLOGY OF FEAR: LOS ANGELES AND THE IMAGINNATION OF DISASTER (1999), which some rare birds have recommended as an accompaniment to any stories set in LA. I haven't read either yet, but they're on my list.
