Between the new Jimmy Smits PI show being worked on and this, are we going through a PI renaissance?

From www.medialifemagazine.com:

TV producer John Wells ("ER," "The West Wing," "Third Watch") is negotiating outside the emergency room and Oval Office these days. Wells and Warner Bros. TV are reportedly discussing a private-eye drama based on a screenplay by former New York detective Ken Sanzel ("The Replacement Killers") starring Franky G. of "The Italian Job." Wells and
"ER" co-executive producer R. Scott Gemmill will rewrite the script for the pilot.
