Al recommended: You might want to check one or two of these out. They're all excellent. Boris Vian: I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVES ('46) Geoffrey Homes: BUILD MY GALLOWS HIGH ('46) Gerald Kersh: PRELUDE TO A CERTAIN MIDNIGHT ('47) Day Keene: FRAMED IN GUILT ('49)

******** Thanks, Al. I've got the Homes and Kersh books on the way. I've got a Day Keene titled LOVE ME AND DIE, which I think you recommended earlier, so I'll read it first. And I love the title to Vian's book. Sounds hardboiled. I couldn't find it cheap, though, in the States. Seems like all the good deals are in the United Kingdom. I ordered it from there.

And hey! I got the BOOK BIG OF NOIR last night in the mail. I think you and Mario and a couple other people recommended it. I looked thru it and it will be great at helping me to become familiar with genre. The only thing that irritates me is that it recommends all these great movies to watch and I can't find reasonably priced access to any of them. I am constantly amazed at how many movies Blockbuster rents with- out having any of the older ones I want to watch. Just this weekend I had Charles Williams on my mind so I looked for
"Hotspot" and struck out. I shrugged my shoulders and de- cided I'd watch "Dead Calm" again, and they didn't have it either.

thanks again, miker
