RARA-AVIS: Stephen King's h-b reads

From: George C. Upper III ( gcupper3@yahoo.com)

The subject of King and JDM led me to pull out my copy of ON WRITING. In the back, King lists the books he read during the three or four year period in which he wrote THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON, HEARTS IN ATLANTIS, ON WRITING, and FROM A BUICK EIGHT. The following are selections or authors I either know to be h-b based on my reading or have seen mentioned previously on this list:

Michael Connelly, THE POET Graham Greene, A GUN FOR SALE (aka THIS GUN FOR HIRE) Graham Greene, OUR MAN IN HAVANA Thomas Harris, HANNIBAL Cormac McCarthy, CITIES OF THE PLAIN Cormac McCarthy, THE CROSSING Joyce Carol Oates, THE ZOMBIE Donald Westlake, THE AX

Does anyone know anything about THE ZOMBIE? Just curious.

G.
