Al: I hate to admit that I've never read the Garrity Gold
Medals, but I haven't. I have, however, read a couple of his
later books (as David [or sometimes Dave] J. Gerrity). These
were published by (I think) Signet, and I remember them as
not being quite as bad as the one you quote. But they may
very well be. I'm pretty easy when it comes to books like
that.
