You've got this half-backwards, Anthony. Eric Ambler is, or
rather was, a real person (1909-1998). Eliot Reed is the
pseudonym of Eric Ambler in partnership with Charles Rodda.
although several of the Reed books were written by Rodda

Interestingly, Fleming was born the year before Ambler but
published his first novel in 1953, while Ambler's first came
out in 1936.
