How about _To Catch A Thief_ by David Dodge? I confess I
haven't read it, but it is title appropriate.
Another couple come to mind: The Anderson Tapes (can't
remember the authors name. Anyone?), and Lawrence Block's
_The Thief Who..._ series. The ones I read had some
technique.
Which then spurs me to recall _The Thief Who Came To
Dinner._ IIRC it was a book before it was a movie, so it
wasn't a novelization, but I haven't read it in about 25
years.
