Re: RARA-AVIS: Yet another nomination

A few I think we missed:

T. Jefferson Parker's Merci Rayburn from BLUE HOUR, RED LIGHT and BLACK WATER Gar Anthony Haywood's Aaron Gunner Michael Collins' Dan Fortune Mike Connelly's Terrell McCaleb from BLOOD WORK and A DARKNESS MORE THAN NIGHT. (And Eastwood's shooting BLOOD WORK right now.) Richard Barre's Wil Hardesty (4 books) Gary Phillips' Ivan Monk Doc Savage Lamont Cranston (THE SHADOW) Ian Fleming's Auric Goldfinger Scott Phillips' Charlie Arglist from THE ICE HARVEST. Actually if I could nominate an ensemble of hard boiled characters this book would come close to topping the list. There's not a soft one in the bunch (unless you count Charlie's daughter in a brief, painful scene). And they are all memorable. I'm picking Charlie because he's the main character, but anyone who wants to nominate any of the supporting characters gets an automatic second from me.
