I picked top ten for arbitrary alliterative reasons, except for the alliterative ones. Maybe twenty-five, or even fifty would be best? With the marking working in the same way, because of the tactical voting problem Buzz mentioned earlier, ie no-one votes for Marlowe because they know that everyone else will, it's important to try and get everyone to be honest. As for criteria, with this method I don't think you really need many because the consensus of avians will eliminate fringe characters automatically. There you go, sorry for being pushy, you have to remember I come from the country that invented cricket - A player shall be deemed out leg before wicket should he obstruct a delivery that has pitched within the line of the stumps and in the opinion of the umpire will continue and strick the wicket, unless the bowler is coming around the wicket........................ ad mortium.
