I highly recommend the Destroyer series as fun reads and not
your typical men's action series. In fact, I've just finished
re-reading Destroyers 1 & 2 myself.
HOWEVER, be aware that #1 was written years
earlier
(6 or 8 years, IIRC) than the rest of the series. It's still
a good read, and better than what I think of as the "typical
men's action," but in plot and characterization it's much
more conventional within the genre than the later works in
the series.
