It's possible, but not if you're trying it for the first time. Handcuff locks are (or used to be, anyway--times change) very, very simple. Many police departments now use those plastic things that look like garbage bag ties because handcuffs are easily defeatable. (Also, I suspect, because they are cheaper.)

This is a block I haven't read; my respect for this writer keeps growing and growing. I'm really anticipating his HOPE TO DIE, due out next month.
