<There's a semi-brutal review of the Library of America's
new Hammett collection in the September 9 issue of the New
York Times Book Review. It's clear from the second sentence
that the reviewer doesn't like Hammett. It's even more clear
at the end.>>
Is it as misguided as Oates's dismissal of the LoA Chandler
collection? Why don't they get somebody qualified to review
these specialized reissues? I would be happy with, say, Bill
Crider.
