RE: RARA-AVIS: the voice of hardboiled: after all

And has anyone else ever seen Ricardo Montez as Spade in the first film? I have. Maltin is far too kind.

How'd you like Gould, Mario?

And, apropos of little, after having mostly ignored CRIME STORY when it was on, I finally watched an episode through a couple of weeks ago...the one involving the serial murderer...and rarely have I seen a more remarkably, shall we say, unlikely (tempering my language) storyline as it played out. And it reminded me why I tended to ignore the series back when. But I'll take the word of several here that the series definitely has watchable, non-insulting episodes.

And did anyone see the Clark Howard and the lesser Andrew Vachss stories in the current EQMM? Howard's may be medium-boiled at best, but would make a fine film. The Joyce Carol Oates story isn't too shabby nor far from hb, either...

By the way, I found Mitchum too seedy and not alert enough for Marlowe.
