This cooking thread (thanks, Bill) ferrets me out.

Here's how to cook a perfect hardboiled egg:

1. Place egg in a saucepan. 2. Cover with cold water. 3. Bring water to a boil over medium to high heat. 4. Remove pan from heat and cover with lid. 5. Let stand for 15 or so minutes. 6. Immediately cool egg in cold water to prevent further cooking. 7. Peel and eat or use in recipe. 8. Spray the cook with machine-gun fire. 9. Write a book or short story about it.

I have no idea what can be hardboiled besides an egg or a story. Hardboiled shoes? beans? teeth? rutabaga?
