In *Heads, You Lose* Mike makes some lukewarm comments about democracy being, on the whole, better than tyranny.

And I seem to recall a scene in *When Dorinda Dances* in which Mike and Will Gentry argue about the New Deal. Mike was in favor of it, Will wasn't.
