Really interesting article.
In an aisde, it notes: "In this, Himes's work bears a
distinct relationship to that of Rudolph Fisher, whose 1932
novel "The Conjure-Man Dies" is considered the first
detective novel by a black American."
Has anyone read this book? Is it good? Is it
hardboiled?
