On the whole, Mark, I think you're right; except maybe that
the protag's sense of family is strong, calling as it does
for some pretty drastic thought and action. If in addition to
the personal any more ethical basis can be found for his
attitude and actions... Whether anything can be built out of
the personal alone does seem doubtful. Maybe this book is
finally an interesting examination of the consequences and
condition of nihilistic individualism.
