The Corris books are worth reading.

After Carter Brown there was a whole paperback explosion in
Australia. Writers like K.T. McCall, Carl Dekker, Peter
Flynn, Larry Kent, Marc Brody and G.G. Bleeck (mostly
pseudonyms) wrote stuff almost straight out of pulp
magazines. The stuff is clearly pastiche and sometimes
parody, but nevertheless an intriguing object of study. By
the way, Carter Brown AKA Alan Yates started his career in
the 1940's writing science fiction for the local pulp
magazines.
